Trucker Metal

Continuing in the theme of getting rid of the old we decided to get fix our "trucker metal" vanity this week. Yes, that is right literally trucker metal. For almost 3 years now half of our mirror has been a lovely piece of metal. Not just any metal mind you but the thick kind with rivets that would most likely be used to make a tool box for the back of a truck. We have always wished that both of us could see ourselves in the mirror at one time or that the handle to pull the side of the mirror was not a screw but due to cheap rent and our ability to be grateful we have never done anything about it (o.k. so maybe we are just lazy). After requesting a new vanity a few times we decided to take matters into our own hands. We found a mirror at D.I. and had it cut at a local glass shop into the right dimensions. It was a little too thin so James cut some thin wood and he glued in on as a backing. We then purchased some little stick on handles and put those on as well. And there you have it. For a total of $18 we now have an AMAZING mirror(compared to our old one at least). I slides perfectly and one person does not have to move so the other can see them-self. We were so amazed at how great it was that for at least a half a day we both had to keep going in and look at it(just to make sure it was real). It is so great to feel that we are no longer looking at a trucker toolbox every time we enter the bathroom! Goodbye trucker metal! Wahoo!
